Will Lobbyists Come Clean? A debate on ethics and transparency in lobbying
Why does transparency in lobbying matter? Does the public have a right to know who is trying to influence public policy? Is it possible to achieve transparency in lobbying? And should MPs and Peers be allowed to have financial interests in companies that offer lobbying services? These and other questions will be debated at this Labour Party conference fringe event.
Monday 22 September 2008, 7pm start On the panel will be: - Prof David Miller, Director of SpinWatch, a member of the Alliance for Lobbying Transparency
- Jon McLeod, Chairman, UK Public Affairs at Weber Shandwick
- Stephen Kingston, Editor of the Salford Star, an award-winning, grassroots magazine
- Chair: Nigel Pivaro, formerly played Terry Duckworth in Coronation Street, now a journalist.
