Under pressure from the lobbying industry, the Scottish government has introduced last-minute changes to the Lobbying Bill which would see many lobbyists escape public scrutiny. Take action at closetheloopholes.scot
The government wants companies with fewer than ten full time staff to be exempt from registering when they lobby politicians. A whole swathe of lobbyists would escape the lobbying register - from business lobby groups to the pharmaceutical industry. After all the progress made with this Bill, this would allow lobbyists to carry on lobbying in secret.
There’s not much time to show MSPs that the Scottish public want to know more about who is influencing our politicians, not less. The Bill will be debated for the final time in Holyrood this Thursday. Please write to your MSP to tell them not to water down the Bill.
